Adam's Peak (Sri Pada): Why You'll Love This Destination
Adam's Peak, known locally as Sri Pada, is sacred to four religions, each attributing the footprint-shaped mark at its summit to a different figure. Thousands climb through the night during pilgrimage season to reach the top by sunrise, when the mountain casts a near-perfect triangular shadow over the plains.
Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Christians each revere the summit's footprint mark, attributing it to the Buddha, Shiva, Adam or St. Thomas respectively.
